Poha kabab is a very simple recipe. It’s a good option for breakfast or evening snacks. You can also prepare this as a Starter/Side Dish for your lunch or dinner.

Ingredients:
- 250 grams Poha (Beaten rice/ Flattened rice)
- 3-4 boiled potatoes
- 1 Capsicum /Shimla Mirch
- 2 Carrot finely chopped
- 1 small bowl gram flour
- 2 finely chopped Onion
- 2 finely chopped Tomato
- 1 teaspoon ginger -garlic- coriander paste
- 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon Red Chilli powder
- 2 teaspoon Pav bhaji masala
- 1 teaspoon Garam Masala powder
- 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
- ½ small bowl chopped Coriander leaves
- 4-5 teaspoon oil or ghee
- Salt to taste
Serves: 6 persons
Directions / Procedure:
- First rinse the poha two to three times in water till they become clean and soft. Keep it in water for about 2-3 minutes and then remove it from water. Press the poha slightly using hand fingers and remove the excess water. Keep it aside.
- Chop capsicum and carrot in a very thin slices and keep aside.
- Heat the oil in kadai/pan on low flame gas and add finely chopped onion, sauté for 2-3 minutes till the onion becomes translucent and slightly reddish.
- Add finely chopped tomato, sauté the mixture for about 2-3 minutes, till the onion and tomato becomes soft.
- Add ginger-garlic-coriander leaves paste in it. Mix well and sauté the mixture for 2-3 minutes. Then add finely chopped capsicum and carrot in it and again mix gently, cook the all ingredients for about 2 minutes.
- Now add red chilli powder, garam masala powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, pav bhaji masala powder. Mix gently, sauté the mixture for 2-3 minutes.
- Finally add mashed potato, soaked poha, gram flour and salt to taste in it and mix it well. Cook the mixture for about 2-3 minutes on low flame.
- Here your mixture is ready to make Veg Poha Kabab.
- Take the wood skewer and small portion of above mixture. Stick the mixture to the skewer carefully and press mixture gently all side of skewer. Make kabab length 5 inches approx.
- Heat the oil in pan on low flame gas. Fry these kababs from all the sides till it turns reddish brownish.
- Ready to serve with green chutney or tomato sauce.
Tips / suggestions:
- Add ginger garlic paste as per your choice
- Add another veggie like carrot, green peas, cabbage in the mixture
- Add / adjust more spice ingredients like chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder.
- Applying bread crumbs is optional.
